SMS/Text Messaging Policy
1. Program Description
Hands That Touch Home Health Services Inc. ("HTT") may send SMS (text) messages to patients, caregivers, and authorized representatives for care coordination and operational purposes, including:
Appointment reminders
Scheduling confirmations
Care plan updates
Insurance or authorization updates
Billing notifications
Emergency or weather-related service alerts
SMS communications are intended to support continuity of care and operational communication.
2. Consent to Receive Messages
By providing your mobile number and opting in, you consent to receive SMS messages from Hands That Touch Home Health Services Inc. Consent may be obtained through website submission forms, intake paperwork, written authorization, or documented verbal consent.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving care.
3. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on care needs and service activity. Active patients may receive 1–5 messages per week. During scheduling coordination, messages may occur up to once per day as needed. Emergency notifications may be sent as required.
4. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. Hands That Touch Home Health Services Inc. is not responsible for carrier charges.
5. Opt-Out Instructions
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP. After sending STOP, you will receive confirmation and will no longer receive text messages unless you opt in again. For assistance, reply HELP or contact our office directly.
6. Privacy and HIPAA Compliance
HTT takes patient privacy seriously. SMS communications are limited to the minimum necessary information. SMS messaging is used primarily for appointment reminders and care coordination.
While we take reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect patient information, standard SMS messaging is not encrypted and may not be fully secure. Protected health information will be limited whenever possible. Patients may request alternative communication methods at any time.
